Melissa A. Adkins, Sole Proprietor

My connection to the paranormal began early with my first sighting at age twelve. Since then, I’ve carried a lifelong passion for the unknown, influenced by both personal experience and pop‑culture curiosity. Haunted Quill grew out of that passion and out of my desire to create safe havens for people to tell their stories, explore their experiences, and freely engage with paranormal topics.

My professional background is unconventional for a storycraft studio, but it’s exactly what put me on this path. I hold an AAS in Mortuary Science, a BS in Psychology, and an MS in Administrative Studies. I’ve worked in funeral service and mental health—fields that taught me how to navigate emotionally complex narratives.

Although I didn’t immediately pursue a writing career—college‑me was more interested in testing out of every English class with a single essay—I eventually reignited the skill with my 2006 paranormal memoir, Cassandra’s Coffin. I later wrote two companion renditions and my most recent dark thriller, Highway P. Over the past twenty years, the combination of professional and creative writing, along with my experience in self‑publishing, has given me a firm understanding of what manuscripts need before they reach an editor. I approach each project with integrity and craftsmanship while preserving the heart of each teller’s story.
